QA’s sher­iff’s K-9 pro­gram ex­pands

CEN­TRE­VILLE — Queen Anne’s County Sher­iff Gary Hof­mann re­cently an­nounced the ex­pan­sion of the sher­iff’s of­fice K-9 pro­gram with the re­turn of K-9 Zora and ad­di­tion of K-9 Spike.

Dfc. Chris Ahearn and K-9 Blek and Deputy Michael Pi­asecki are on pa­trol with Dfc. Brad Martz and K-9 Spike cur­rently in train­ing. The dogs are Bel­gian Mali­nois.

In ad­di­tion, a fourth dog is also in train­ing. A do­na­tion from Del­marva K-9 has added an 18-month-old blood­hound named Bella that will be used for track­ing miss­ing per­sons and lost chil­dren.
