CHURCH HILL — Acting of the recommendation of the Church Hill Planning Commission, the town commissioners introduced Ordinance 160/16 at their May 16 meeting to make some changes to the portion of the town code covering home child care centers.

Under current town law, the maximum number of persons allowed in a home day care center is four, excluding residents. At the request of a local day care provider, the Planning Commission recommended that the maximum number allowed in state-licensed day care centers be increased to eight, excluding residents.

The ordinance also requires that safe parking and loading and unloading areas be provided at home day care centers as long as the flow of traffic on adjacent roads is not affected.

There will be a public hearing on the ordinance on Monday, June 20, at 7 p.m. at the town hall.
