EYE­GLASSES The Centreville Lions Club, along with Lions Clubs through­out the na­tion, put out spe­cially marked boxes to ask peo­ple to turn in their old, un­used eye­glasses to be col­lected and dis­trib­uted to those in need of glasses that can­not af­ford them.

I picked up boxes around town re­cently and was happy to see the one in the Centreville National Bank was over­flow­ing. The one we have at the Op­ti­cal Gal­le­ria on Wa­ter Street was also full and I also col­lected the box out at the Centreville branch of the Queen­stown Bank.

We hope you folks will con­tinue to drop off those old glasses you no longer need as they are al­ways put to good use when col­lected from our boxes.

The in­ter­na­tional ser­vice clubs of the Lions will be ob­serv­ing our 100th an­niver­sary next year and I just saw a quote by our founder, Melvin Jones, the other day. It went like this:
