STEVENSVILLE — On April 29, fifthgraders at Lighthouse Christian Academy hosted a Market Day for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. As part of the fifthgraders’ study of the Industrial Revolution and Roaring Twenties, each fifth-grader applied what they had learned to create, prototype, advertise, and sell a product.

All products produced by the fifth-graders were priced at less than two dollars and gave the lower school students an opportunity to practice counting money in a real and practical way. Profits from Market Day totaled a little over $300. The proceeds raised were donated to the nonprofit organization Samaritan’s Purse, which reaches developing villages throughout the world with the Gospel by providing necessities like food, water, and shelter. The class selected various farm animals, medicine, clean water, and more to send to a village in need.

Founded in 2001, Lighthouse Christian Academy is a K-8 Classical Christian school on Kent Island. For more information, visit www. lcacademy.org
