Commissioner no show at celebration a disgrace
This letter was sent to the Queen Anne’s County Commissioners with a copy to the newspaper for publication.
On Saturday, June 11, I had the privilege of attending the celebration of the Queen Anne’s Soil Conservation District 75th Anniversary. They had people attending from all over the State of Maryland.
A former District Conservationist traveled from Connecticut to attend. Governor (Larry) Hogan, Sen. (Andy) Harris’ office as well as our local Delegation was in attendance or they sent a representative. Other counties Soil Conservation Districts came from all over the state. Two former Queen Anne’s County Commissioners also attended, but our present county commissioners were no where in attendance.
Seventy-five years in business in Queen Anne’s County should have at least some acknowledgement from our elected county commissioners. This celebration was held close to where two commissioners live. Not even a representative from them was in attendance.
The QASCD not only helps the farmers of the county, but they help landowners, too, as well as the county government.
I feel the county commissioners of Queen Anne’s owe the QASCD an explanation as to why no one attended this celebration since an invitation had been sent to them in plenty of time.
