QA’s Depart­ment of So­cial Ser­vices hon­ors foster par­ents

GRA­SONVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Depart­ment of So­cial Ser­vices re­cently hon­ored foster par­ents from Queen Anne’s County for their years of service, as well as the Foster Par­ents of the Year. The awards fol­lowed a din­ner held on May 25 at An­nie’s Restau­rant in Gra­sonville.

Four­teen fam­i­lies were rec­og­nized at the an­nual event, which in­cluded a pre­sen­ta­tion by key­note speaker Ty Howard, au­thor of “Un­tie the Knots That Tie Up Your Life: A Prac­ti­cal Guide to Free­ing Your­self From Toxic Habits, Choices, Peo­ple, and Re­la­tion­ships.”

Earl and Nancy Lea­ger were hon­ored as the county’s Foster Par­ents of the Year. They have served as foster par­ents for the past 14 years, ac­cept­ing many place­ments over the years that other providers would not have been will­ing to take.
