Casting call for “A Delicate Balance”
CHESTERTOWN — Auditions for the Garfield Center for the Arts’ October production of “A Delicate Balance” will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, and Thursday, July 21; and at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23.
Agnes and Tobias, an older married couple, are seemingly content with their upper class suburban lifestyle. Agnes’ alcoholic sister Claire lives with them and, except for an occasional outburst, the three of them maintain a comfortable balance in the home.
Over the course of a weekend, their complacency is shattered when a bitter adult daughter returns to the “nest” after the collapse of her fourth marriage, and their long-time friends arrive on the scene with no intentions of leaving.
Director Bonnie Hill is seeking a cast of four women, ages 3070; and two men, ages 55-75. Familiarity with the play is helpful, but not necessary. Actors should come prepared to do cold readings from the script.
Performances are scheduled for two weekends: October 14-16, and October 21-23, at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and at 3 p.m. Sundays.
