Sudlersville officially changes name
SUDLERSVILLE — With a total of six votes, the municipality of Sudlersville has officially changed its name from the Commissioners of Sudlersville to the Town of Sudlersville in its charter. A special election was held Wednesday, July 6.
Michelle Marshall, town clerk and treasurer, counted the votes during the town’s monthly meeting as Commissioner Constance Engrem tallied and verified the entries.
Marshall said the town’s charter always had Commissioners of Sudlersville as the
town’s name. The name was not an issue until the town tried to get a loan from CNB and couldn’t because the name didn’t match its official
tax identification. Marshall said the state recognizes the municipality as the Town of Sudlersville.
“They were going by the charter, and you know,” Marshall said, “we were going by what the state has us down.”
Now they match. Senior center Zumba class postponed
GRASONVILLE — Zumba class scheduled for the Percy Thomas Center on Kent Island and Grasonville Senior Center is postponed until Aug. 4.
