Artists Shine at 2016 Local Color Art Show
EASTON — The 2016 Local Color Art Show and Competition, an annual event sponsored by the Working Artists Form was held from July 15 to 17 at the Tidewater Inn, in conjunction with the Plein Air Easton festival.
Local Color attracted large crowds of art-lovers and featured paintings by 42 professional artists representing the Delmarva Peninsula. The show judge this year was Jason Sacran, Plein Air Easton’s 2015 Grand Prize winner. Participating artists were juried in by Tim Bell, PAE’s 2015 second-place winner.
Local Color’s Best in Show award this year went to Barbara Zuehlke for her painting, “Kiss, Kiss #2.”
Awards of Excellence went to Fred Craig, Sandy Alanko and Carla Huber, and Honorable Mentions were awarded to Carole Boggemann-Peirson, Valerie Sunderland and Sarah Stolte.
Throughout the weekend, five demonstrations were given by award-winners of Plein Air Easton’s 2015 competition, including Jason Sacran, Tim Bell, John Brandon Sills, Neal Hughes and Hiu Lai Chong.
On Saturday, July 16, some of the Local Color artists headed to the streets around the Tidewater Inn to paint in plein air for the Quick Draw Competition.
