KIUMC to host Lights of Hope

CH­ESTER — The Ad­dict’s Mom and the Kent Is­land United Methodist Church sup­port group To­gether through the Chaos and Cel­e­brate Re­cov­ery will host a Lights of Hope event Sept. 10, fea­tur­ing guest speak­ers, words from re­cov­er­ing ad­dicts and a can­dle­light vigil for those with loved ones suf­fer­ing from ad­dic­tion.

Guest speak­ers will in­clude au­thors Lore­lie Roz­zano and Mau­reen Alexan­der and in­ter­ven­tion­ist Joe Brat.

Septem­ber is Na­tional Re­cov­ery Month. This event is in­tended to raise aware­ness of the is­sue of ad­dic­tion in the com­mu­nity and bring a face and voice to those whose fam­i­lies are suf­fer­ing.

The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. at KIUMC, 2739 Cox Neck Road, Ch­ester.
