Hospice training begins for Sept. 13
CENTREVILLE — Compass Regional Hospice will offer two training sessions for those interested in becoming a volunteer.
The first session will be held every Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, through Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Hope and Healing Center in Centreville. The second session will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18; Wednesday, Oct. 19; and Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Caroline Hospice Home in Denton.
Those interested must attend each day of one of the sessions to be able to work directly with hospice patients and their family members in Caroline, Kent and Queen Anne’s counties.
Training topics include an overview of hospice, the process of dying, spiritual care and its place in hospice care, the stages of grief, communication techniques, family dynamics, stress management and self-care for caregivers.
