Trash truck overturns on Bloomingdale Road
QUEENSTOWN — A trash truck overturned on Bloomingdale Road about noon Sept. 5, blocking the road most of the afternoon.
The Chesapeake Waste Industries truck was being driven south by Owen Purnell Wright of Cambridge when it went right into the grassy area off the road, according to the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office. The speed limit is 35 mph where the crash occurred.
Wright over corrected and lost control, police said.
The truck flipped onto its side and skidded some 50 feet before stopping across both lanes, according to the police report. The road was blocked until 3:26 p.m.
Wright had two passengers in the truck, which is designed to transport two, police said. No injuries were reported. All three refused medical treatment.
The crash is being investigated by Deputy Alex Cooper with assistance from the Maryland State Police Commercial Unit.
