Trash truck over­turns on Bloom­ing­dale Road

QUEEN­STOWN — A trash truck over­turned on Bloom­ing­dale Road about noon Sept. 5, block­ing the road most of the af­ter­noon.

The Ch­e­sa­peake Waste In­dus­tries truck was be­ing driven south by Owen Pur­nell Wright of Cam­bridge when it went right into the grassy area off the road, ac­cord­ing to the Queen Anne’s County Sher­iff’s Of­fice. The speed limit is 35 mph where the crash oc­curred.

Wright over cor­rected and lost con­trol, po­lice said.

The truck flipped onto its side and skid­ded some 50 feet be­fore stop­ping across both lanes, ac­cord­ing to the po­lice re­port. The road was blocked un­til 3:26 p.m.

Wright had two pas­sen­gers in the truck, which is de­signed to trans­port two, po­lice said. No in­juries were re­ported. All three re­fused med­i­cal treat­ment.

The crash is be­ing in­ves­ti­gated by Deputy Alex Cooper with as­sis­tance from the Mary­land State Po­lice Com­mer­cial Unit.
