Bike rodeo set Saturday in Crumpton
CRUMPTON — A bike rodeo for children ages 5 to 14 will be held in Crumpton Saturday, Sept. 17, as community members try to raise awareness about the need for a community center to serve the Pondtown and Crumpton neighborhoods. Sponsors of the event, which will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the Crumpton firehouse, include the Center Resurrection Committee.
“It is the community’s goal to revitalize the Crumpton Community Center back to the citizens of northern Queen Anne’s County,” event organizers wrote in a news release. “Opening the center will provide children and adults with a site where they can come together for social, educational and recreational activities.
“Please come and enjoy our first event and make this vision become a reality.”
The amenities include prizes, snacks, lunch and water — all free of charge.

After Deputy Chris Neall of the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office provides a safety skills demonstration, young cyclists and their family members can ride a noncompetitive obstacle course.
