Writ­ers as­so­ci­a­tion hosts Sept. 17 meet­ing

STEVENSVILLE — The Eastern Shore Writ­ers As­so­ci­a­tion will host a meet­ing from 10 a.m. to noon Satur­day, Sept. 17, at the Queen Anne’s County Library, Kent Is­land Branch, 200 Library Cir­cle, Stevensville. The meet­ing is free and open to the pub­lic.

Ev­ery au­thor, whether tra­di­tion­ally or self-pub­lished, wants sell their books. ESWA mem­bers Ken­ton Kil­gore and Sharon Brubaker will share what works for them. Kil­gore will talk about the “hand sell­ing” tech­niques he has de­vel­oped, and Brubaker will share why she goes to book fairs and fes­ti­vals, and what works and what does not. She also will dis­cuss tips about how she gets the word out about her books.

Kil­gore writes young adult sci­encefic­tion/fan­tasy. He is the au­thor of “Dragontamer’s Daugh­ter,” “Lost Dogs,” and the chil­dren’s book, “Our Wild Place.”

Brubaker is a na­tion­ally award-win­ning li­brar­ian, the au­thor of sev­eral ed­u­ca­tional pub­li­ca­tions and a ro­man­tic sus­pense tril­ogy, the “Green Man” series.

The Eastern Shore Writ­ers As­so­ci­a­tion, founded in 1985, is a non­profit, all vol­un­teer or­ga­ni­za­tion sup­port­ing writ­ers and lit­er­ary arts across the Del­marva Penin­sula and the Eastern Shore. One of the ben­e­fits of mem­ber­ship is net­work­ing with writ­ing peers at in­for­mal, in­for­ma­tional meet­ings. Non­mem­bers are wel­come to at­tend.
