Artisans Fair benefits outreach programs
CENTREVILLE — Symphony Village Outreach Program Inc. hosted its 6th Artisans Fair on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Symphony Village Clubhouse, 100 Symphony Way in Centreville.
The event hosted 30 local artisans displaying their craft, including watercolor artists, glazed ceramics, jewelry and baskets. Local author Rebekah Colbourn was also in attendance signing copies of her Civil War era historical fiction series.
Residents and volunteers of Symphony Village and the Symphony Village Outreach Program sold and served baked goods and bag lunches. The proceeds from the event support the outreach program — a nonprofit organization created by the residents of Symphony Village — to provide volunteer services and financial support to charitable and civic organizations in Queen Anne’s County as well as to support fellow neighbors in the Village through the Neighbor to Neighbor and Caregivers Support Group programs.
Loretta Quigley, chairman of the group that organized the Artisans Fair, said she was pleased with the attendance on Saturday. Quigley was joined in organizing the day’s event by Bea Trotta, Linda Gardner, Linda Blume, Loretta Quigley and many other volunteers, without whom the fair would not have been possible, she said.
The Outreach Committee has also just kicked off a new fundraising venture they debuted at the Artisans Fair. The committee has created an online shop with clothing and gifts featuring the new SV Outreach logo. For every item sold SVO receives funds to help support the committee’s donations to community outreach programs.
