Time to start towing illegally parked cars

Record Observer - - Opinion -

Dan Tablers’ recent article about cell phone use by drivers was well written, but missed the real point. This is a hard law to enforce. The Maryland legislators put no real meat behind the law. It would have been much better if written with a $1,000 fine and six months’ loss of driving privileges.

What Dan really needs to write about are the unmanned cars left in the fire lanes of our local shopping centers and the use of handicapped parking spaces by those who have no right to their use.

These people are the laziest of the lazy. It is time for the tow trucks to be put into action. Once these people get a hefty tow bill to pay, they’ll think twice about leaving their vehicles where they don’t belong. This also goes for people who park, only to sit in their car, while some else goes into these stores.

I have great respect for our men in Blue, as their lives do matter.

Let’s crack down and start tagging and towing these offenders. TIMOTHY F. SULLIVAN Kingstown
