Grasonville woman struck by car

GRASONVILLE — A Grasonville woman was struck by a car as she was walk­ing her dog on Prospect Bay Drive West about 8 a.m. Thurs­day, Sept. 22.

Ac­cord­ing to the Queen Anne’s County Sher­iff’s Of­fice, Su­san Brady, 65, of Grasonville said she was look­ing down while driv­ing when her Volk­swa­gen pas­sen­ger car struck some­thing. Brady told po­lice she ini­tially thought she had hit a mail­box, but upon stop­ping, she dis­cov­ered she had hit a per­son, po­lice said.

The pedes­trian, who po­lice iden­ti­fied as Diane M. Gon­za­lez, 50, was flown by helicopter to the Uni­ver­sity of Mary­land Shock Trauma Cen­ter in Bal­ti­more for treat­ment of her in­juries.

She re­mains at the hos­pi­tal, where she was listed in fair con­di­tion Tues­day, Sept. 27, said Karen Lan­caster, hos­pi­tal spokesman.

Deputies on the scene said the dog did not ap­pear to be in­jured.

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion is con­tin­u­ing.
