Funeral home chosen for national excellence prize
EASTON — Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home has been honored by the National Funeral Directors Association with the 2016 Pursuit of Excellence Award. Just over 160 firms from around the world received this prestigious recognition, placing Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home among an elite group of funeral service providers.
Pursuit of Excellence Award recipients raise the bar on funeral service excellence by adhering to the highest ethical and professional standards and providing unsurpassed ser vice to families and communities.
Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home President Kirk A. Helfenbein said, “We couldn’t be more proud of our team of funeral professionals earning this award once again. Their efforts to achieve our motto of helping families heal are recognized by receiving this award.
“We dedicate this Pursuit of Excellence Award to John R. Merceron, whose vision, compassion, and dedication to his community have inspired all of our staff to become the very best at what they do.
“Jenn Chance, Keith Phippin, Pam Phebus, John Renshaw, Sam Tibbitt, Glen Taylor, Mike Newnam, Melissa Martelli, Bob Connolly, and Jeff Morton among others should also be recognized as partners in earning this prestigious award,” Helfenbein said.
To earn an NFDA Pursuit of Excellence Award, a participating funeral home must meet or exceed business standards set forth by the program and demonstrate proficiency in key areas of funeral service, such as compliance with state and federal regulations; providing ongoing education and professional development opportunities for staff; offering outstanding programs and resources to bereaved families; maintaining an active level of involvement within the community; participating and actively serving in the funeral service profession; and promoting funeral home services through a variety of marketing, advertising and public relations programs. Participants are also required to adhere to a pledge of ethical practices.
