CHURCH HILL — Frances Ben­ney Stevens of Church Hill died on Sept. 30, 2016 at Tal­bot Hospice House. She was 92.

She was born near Queen­stown on Jan. 7, 1924, the daugh­ter of the late Joseph M. and Lil­lie M. Faulkner Ben­ney. She was a grad­u­ate of Cen­tre­ville High School, Class of 1941.

On Jan. 13, 1945, she mar­ried J. Thomas Stevens of Bar­clay. Mrs. Stevens worked as a sales clerk for For­ney’s Jew­elry Store in Ch­ester­town. She and her late hus­band lived on the fam­ily farm in Bar­clay un­til re­tir­ing and mov­ing to Church Hill.

Mrs. Stevens was a mem­ber of Church Hill United Methodist Church. Her in­ter­ests in­cluded sewing and all needle­work and bowl­ing. Her great­est love of her life was her fam­ily and spend­ing time with her hus­band in Florida.

She is sur­vived by her daugh­ters, Faye Fra­ley (Frank) of Fed­er­als­burg and Peggy Stevens (Mar­cia Bertino) of Ch­ester­town; a brother, Marvin L. Ben­ney of Florida; along with two grand­chil­dren, Tom Fra­ley (Kim) of Chin­coteague, Va. and Les­lie Fra­ley of Hur­lock; two great-grand­daugh­ters, Con­nie Beebe (Brian) of Fel­ton, Del. and Car­leigh Fra­ley of Hur­lock, along with one great-great­grand­son, Colton James Beebe. She also is sur­vived by nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews. In ad­di­tion to her hus­band who pre­de­ceased her in 2000, she was pre­de­ceased by a son, Jimmy Stevens, in 1964 and a brother, Joseph Med­ford Ben­ney, in 1998.

Ser­vices will be held at Church Hill Ceme­tery at 11 a.m. Fri­day, Oct. 7.
