Frances B. Stevens
CHURCH HILL — Frances Benney Stevens of Church Hill died on Sept. 30, 2016 at Talbot Hospice House. She was 92.
She was born near Queenstown on Jan. 7, 1924, the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Lillie M. Faulkner Benney. She was a graduate of Centreville High School, Class of 1941.
On Jan. 13, 1945, she married J. Thomas Stevens of Barclay. Mrs. Stevens worked as a sales clerk for Forney’s Jewelry Store in Chestertown. She and her late husband lived on the family farm in Barclay until retiring and moving to Church Hill.
Mrs. Stevens was a member of Church Hill United Methodist Church. Her interests included sewing and all needlework and bowling. Her greatest love of her life was her family and spending time with her husband in Florida.
She is survived by her daughters, Faye Fraley (Frank) of Federalsburg and Peggy Stevens (Marcia Bertino) of Chestertown; a brother, Marvin L. Benney of Florida; along with two grandchildren, Tom Fraley (Kim) of Chincoteague, Va. and Leslie Fraley of Hurlock; two great-granddaughters, Connie Beebe (Brian) of Felton, Del. and Carleigh Fraley of Hurlock, along with one great-greatgrandson, Colton James Beebe. She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband who predeceased her in 2000, she was predeceased by a son, Jimmy Stevens, in 1964 and a brother, Joseph Medford Benney, in 1998.
Services will be held at Church Hill Cemetery at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7.
