Four named to Alcohol, Drug Abuse Council
CENTREVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners named four people to the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council during its Tuesday, Oct. 11, meeting.
The commission reappointed John Plaskon and appointed Susan Coppage, Kara Kresge and Iris Carter each to four-year terms to begin Nov. 1 and to end June 30, 2020.
The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council was created by Gov. Robert Ehrlich in 2004 requiring each county establish and maintain an advisory council. The law was designed to improve links between the criminal justice system and substance abuse treatment services, as well as increase diversion from prosecution and alternatives to incarceration for low level, non-violent offenders.
