CH­ESTER­TOWN — Brenda W. Hor­ney passed away af­ter a short bat­tle with can­cer on Sun­day, Oct. 16, 2016, at Com­pass Re­gional Hospice in Cen­tre­ville. She was sur­rounded by fam­ily and friends.

Brenda was born on Nov. 3, 1944 in Parkville. She was the daugh­ter of Brin­ton and Laura Warner. She re­tired from the Acme Mar­ket in Cen­tre­ville af­ter 38 years of ser­vice. Dur­ing her re­tire­ment, she en­joyed be­ing with fam­ily and friends. She loved to go camp­ing, travel and ride a Har­ley David­son with her hus­band and friends.

Brenda was a de­voted mother, wife, grand­mother, sis­ter and friend — and lived life to the fullest. She is sur vived by her hus­band, Ron­ald Hor­ney; sis­ter Lynn Shaw and hus­band Joe; sons Martin and Franklin Cal­la­han; stepchil­dren Don­nie Wilk­er­son, Mar­i­lyn Ford and Con­nie Cross­man; four grand­chil­dren; eight great-grand­chil­dren; and her niece, Beth Glover.

A pri­vate grave­side ser­vice will be held at Gar­den of Faith Me­mo­rial Gar­dens in Bal­ti­more. A Cel­e­bra­tion of Life will take place at the Ch­ester­town fire­house from 3 to 6 p.m. Nov. 5.

In lieu of flow­ers, me­mo­rial dona­tions may be made to Com­pass Re­gional Hospice, 255 Comet Drive, Cen­tre­ville, MD 21617, or to a fa­vorite char­ity.
