Julia May Jester Cronshaw
CHURCH HILL — Julia May Jester Cronshaw died peacefully in her home on Monday, October 24, 2016. Julia was born Dec. 19, 1922 near Church Hill, Queen Anne’s County, MD, on Spread Eagle Farm, daughter of the late Roger and Julia May Payne Jester. She grew up on Walnut Hill Farm near Ingleside, MD, where she attended the Ingleside Elementary School and graduated from Sudlersville High School with class of 1940.
In November 1944, she married the love of her life, Linwood S. Cronshaw, and enjoyed 53 beautiful years of marriage. Homemaking was one of Julia’s many gifts and she loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
Julia was a long time active member of Calvary Asbury United Methodist Church of Sudlersville, MD. In addition to church, she was an honorary member of the Sudlersville Community Betterment Club. After moving to Delaware in 1997, she became an associate member of the Asbury United Methodist Church of Smyrna.
In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her beloved husband in 1998 and two dear brothers: Roger F. Jester and William R. Jester, and a beloved sister, Rosalie Jester Flinn.
Julia is survived by her daughter, Julia Cronshaw Hopkins (Judy) and husband Eric J. Hopkins near Clayton, DE. Julia is also survived by her two grandchildren: Jeffrey Lin Hopkins with his wife Tara of Chariton, Iowa; Julia Penrose H. Frawley with her husband Gregory J. Frawley Jr. near Clayton, DE; four great grandchildren: Jena Claire and Scott Hopkins in addition to Spencer John and Julia May Frawley. Julia was further blessed with twin great great grandchildren: Rosie and Ricky. Cindy Englebach Callahan of Clayton, DE, was her dear friend and long time caregiver. In addition, surviving are many loving nieces and nephews plus two sister in laws: Dorothy E. Cronshaw and Merium Perkins Cronshaw.
A visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 29, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Fellows Family Funeral Home, 370 Cypress St., Millington, MD. Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service in Sudlersville Cemetery in Sudlersville, MD.
