Allen B. Thompson
ROCK HALL — Allen Bennett “Benny” Thompson of Rock Hall died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at Autumn Lake Healthcare in Chestertown. He was 70.
M r . Thompson was born Aug. 5, 1946 in Chestertown, the son of the late Roy and Blanche Thompson. Bennie attended school in Sudlersville and after the eighth grade, he went to work on the family farm. He then went to work for Chrysler before being drafted in the United States Army, where he served during Vietnam. After an honorable discharge, he continued his service to his country for 20 more years in the National Guard.
He married Frances Kay Thompson on July 8, 1994, and shortly after in 1996, he retired from Chrysler. Bennie was a member of the Sgt. Preston Ashley American Legion Post 228 in Rock Hall and a past member of the Millington VFW. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing softball and golf, cooking and playing horseshoes. He also loved singing, drinking beer and whiskey and dancing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jarrett Thompson; two brothers, Leroy and Will Thompson; and two sisters, Deloris Connolley and Doris Newsome.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Kay Thompson of Rock Hall; two sons, Shawn Thompson of Millington and Lance Thompson (Erika) of Worton; one stepdaughter, Kimberly Koeleman (Arno) of Naples, Fla.; three sisters, Charlotte “Chi” Davis of Millington, Elsie Pippin of Crystal Beach and Joyce Ann George of Millington; and seven grandchildren, Conner Thompson, Lance Devin Thompson, Joshua Thompson, Collin Thompson, Delaney Louise Thompson, Sonni Scarlett Thompson and Priscilla Rowe Thompson.
A visitation was held from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown. Services followed at 3 p.m.
