Feed-a-Family seeks names, donations for Thanksgiving
STEVENSVILLE — The community Feed-a-Family Thanksgiving Food Program, operating in Chester, Grasonville, Queenstown, Stevensville and parts of Centreville, has been providing Thanksgiving Food Boxes and hot meals to Queen Anne’s County residents and families for the past 12 years.
Names are now being accepted for those who wish to receive a food box this Thanksgiving. The deadline to submit your name is Thursday, Nov. 10. Baskets will be delivered before 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. To register for the program, call 410-827-7588 or 301-4042288.
Anyone wishing to help with this year’s program is asked to contact Bobbie Bell at 410-829-9834 or bellbloomcoach@yahoo. com. There are several ways to participate with the program: by donating time, a frozen turkey or ham, nonperishable food items or grocery gift cards; by choosing and filling out a “Turkey Tag,” displayed at local churches and businesses; or volunteering on the Feed-a-Family work or deliver y team.
Grocery gift cards and cash donations can be mailed to Christ Church, 830 Romancoke Road, Stevensville, MD 21666. Please note the donation is for Community Thanksgiving.
Feed-a-Family is not affiliated with any county or state agency and does not receive grant money. The community program is sponsored by local churches and supported through the donations of local community members. Several local schools also host food drives, which the organization passes on to local food banks.
Feed-a-Family delivers food and turkeys the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Last year, nearly 800 families benefited from the program between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
