An­napo­lis man faces drug charges

QUEEN ANNE — An An­napo­lis man was charged with pos­ses­sion of mar­i­juana with in­tent to dis­trib­ute after a traf­fic stop on Route 309.

A deputy stopped a gold Mer­cury Grand Mar­quis for traf­fic and equip­ment vi­o­la­tions at 11:20 a.m. Oct. 10 near Fox Meadow Road, po­lice said. When speak­ing with the oc­cu­pants, the deputy re­ported smelling a strong odor of mar­i­juana.

A search of the car found sev­eral bag­gies of sus­pected mar­i­juana (about 40 grams), a dig­i­tal scale and a grinder, po­lice said.

The driver, Melvin Ge­orge Mo­ran III, 36, of An­napo­lis was charged with pos­ses­sion with in­tent to dis­trib­ute mar­i­juana, pos­ses­sion of CDS para­pher­na­lia and traf­fic vi­o­la­tions.

His car was seized by the Queen Anne’s County Drug Task Force.

Mo­ran was re­leased on his own re­cog­ni­zance by the dis­trict court com­mis­sioner.
