Mar­i­anna Quigley

CH­ESTER­TOWN — Mar­i­anna Teresa Si­pala Quigley, of Ch­ester­town, died Satur­day, Nov. 5, 2016, at Golden Rule As­sisted Liv­ing in Rock Hall. She was 81.

Born on Sept. 25, 1935, in Ch­ester­town, she was the daugh­ter of the late Paul and Edith An­der­son Si­pala. She grad­u­ated from Ch­ester­town High School, Class of 1953. She was later ed­u­cated at Wash­ing­ton Col­lege and MacQueen Gibbs Wil­lis School of Nurs­ing, earn­ing a de­gree as a reg­is­tered nurse. Mrs. Quigley worked at Kent & Queen Anne’s Hos­pi­tal as an op­er­at­ing room nurse for 44 years. She thor­oughly loved her job, and it showed in the care that she gave to her pa­tients.

She was mar­ried 41 years to the late R. Wil­lis “Will” Quigley, who pre­de­ceased her. Mrs. Quigley was a mem­ber of Sigma Beta Xi (a lo­cal soror­ity in town), Ch­ester­town Vol­un­teer Fire Com­pany and Sa­cred Heart Catholic Church. She loved nurs­ing, en­joyed knit­ting and cro­chet­ing, es­pe­cially baby bon­nets for ever y new­born at the hos­pi­tal. She was also in­volved with a lo­cal stock club fol­low­ing re­tire­ment.

She is sur­vived by a son, Wil­liam Paul Quigley and wife Christy of Jef­fer­son; a daugh­ter, De­bra Ann Quigley Burke of Ch­ester­town; a brother, Mike Si­pala of Rock Hall; and a sis­ter, Paulina Wolfe, of Ocoee, Fla.; along with four grand­chil­dren, Casey Burke, Chris Burke, Kait­lyn Quigley and Will Quigley.

A visi­ta­tion will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Fri­day, Nov. 11, at Fel­lows, Helfen­bein & New­nam Fu­neral Home, 130 Speer Road, Ch­ester­town, where ser­vices will be held at 1 p.m. Satur­day, Nov. 12. Fol­low­ing the ser­vice, en­tomb­ment will be in Ch­ester Ceme­tery in Ch­ester­town.
