QA Mental Health Committee awards $29,500 in grants
QUEENSTOWN — The Queen Anne’s County Mental Health Committee recently awarded $29,500 in grants to seven organizations that provide mental health services to residents of Queen Anne’s County. Grants were awarded to: Crossroads Community Inc., Eastern Shore Hospital Center Auxiliary, Haven Ministries, Queen Anne County Social Services Department’s Nurturing Program, Talisman Therapeutic Riding, Compass Regional Hospice and Queen Anne’s County Department of Health’s Healthy Families Program.
“These grants are made possible by community support of our fundraisers and through generous donations from local businesses and individuals,” said QACMHC President Kelly Phipps.
QACMHC’s most recent fundraiser was the “Old Bags Luncheon,” held on Sept. 16, which raised over $27,000. QACMHC thanks the follow- ing luncheon sponsors: The Marksmen Company, Shore United Bank, Queenstown Bank, Bennett Point C Landscaping, Bobbie Cusimano/ BBC Embroidery, Eastern Shore Dental Care, Monaghan Construction, Roseland Nurseries, Debbie Shiley/Long & Foster and Judy Wink.
QACMHC was established in the 1986 by Lynette Nielsen who realized that local mental health programs needed access to additional funds to serve the needs of their patients. It is in this spirit that the current dedicated volunteers of QACMHC continue this mission by holding fundraisers and soliciting donations from individuals and businesses to help provide and enhance mental health services for the residents of Queen Anne’s County. QACMHC is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, and all donations are tax deductible. For more information about the organization, visit QACMHC.org.
