KI Vol­ley­ball Club to hold try­outs

STEVENSVILLE — Kent Is­land Vol­ley­ball Club is hold­ing try­outs for the 2017 Sea­son. Team Ch­e­sa­peake Heat is re­cruit­ing girl vol­ley­ball play­ers in grades 8-10 for the U14, U15 and U16 teams. The try­outs will be held on Satur­day, Nov. 12, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Kent Is­land High School Gym­na­sium. Reg­is­tra­tion is $15 for the try­outs and if the player makes the team, the fee for Club is $600. Reg­is­tra­tion for try­outs can be paid by cash or checks made out to Kent Is­land Vol­ley­ball Club.

Prior to try­outs, play­ers must reg­is­ter with CHRVA (Ch­e­sa­peake Re­gional Vol­ley­ball As­so­ci­a­tion) at chrva.org. Play­ers need to bring a copy of their reg­is­tra­tion card with them to try­outs. The cost for a full CHRVA mem­ber­ship is $50, or $20 play­ers can elect mem­ber­ship for just one event. Play­ers must also bring a copy of their birth cer­tifi­cate to en­sure they try out for the cor­rect team and a com­plete a USAV Med­i­cal Re­lease form. These forms will be avail­able for par­ents to fill out at reg­is­tra­tion.

Play­ers will find out within 2-4 days of try­outs if they made the team. A $200 non-re­fund­able de­posit is re­quired to ac­cept the po­si­tion on the team and the bal­ance of the club fees are due by Jan. 1, 2017. The club pro­vides the girls with prac­tices, usu­ally twice a week be­gin­ning in De­cem­ber and up to seven tour­na­ments Jan­uar y through April 2017.

The Kent Is­land Vol­ley­ball Club is a non­profit or­ga­ni­za­tion through the Ch­e­sa­peake Char­i­ties. It pro­vides young women with op­por­tu­ni­ties for per­sonal growth through the devel­op­ment of vol­ley­ball skills, team train­ing and com­pet­i­tive play so that each can reach her full ath­letic and aca­demic po­ten­tial.
