KI Volleyball Club to hold tryouts
STEVENSVILLE — Kent Island Volleyball Club is holding tryouts for the 2017 Season. Team Chesapeake Heat is recruiting girl volleyball players in grades 8-10 for the U14, U15 and U16 teams. The tryouts will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Kent Island High School Gymnasium. Registration is $15 for the tryouts and if the player makes the team, the fee for Club is $600. Registration for tryouts can be paid by cash or checks made out to Kent Island Volleyball Club.
Prior to tryouts, players must register with CHRVA (Chesapeake Regional Volleyball Association) at chrva.org. Players need to bring a copy of their registration card with them to tryouts. The cost for a full CHRVA membership is $50, or $20 players can elect membership for just one event. Players must also bring a copy of their birth certificate to ensure they try out for the correct team and a complete a USAV Medical Release form. These forms will be available for parents to fill out at registration.
Players will find out within 2-4 days of tryouts if they made the team. A $200 non-refundable deposit is required to accept the position on the team and the balance of the club fees are due by Jan. 1, 2017. The club provides the girls with practices, usually twice a week beginning in December and up to seven tournaments Januar y through April 2017.
The Kent Island Volleyball Club is a nonprofit organization through the Chesapeake Charities. It provides young women with opportunities for personal growth through the development of volleyball skills, team training and competitive play so that each can reach her full athletic and academic potential.
