STEVENSVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Economic Development Department is partnering with KRM Development Inc. to host a job opportunities event at the Chesapeake Bay Business Park on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

This event will draw attention to the many job opportunities now available for Queen Anne’s County and other Shore residents who currently commute across the bridge for employment.

The one-day event will feature employers at the business park displaying “yard signs” indicating their availability for hiring and interviewing candidates from 2 to 5 p.m. within the park. In addition, from 5 to 7 p.m., local American Job Center workforce “surrogates” will be on hand to discuss the available openings, distribute position descriptions and answer questions for those who are not able to attend during the afternoon timeframe. All are welcome to this free event.

“This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate that there are competitive jobs available right here in the Kent Island area,” said Jean Fabi with Queen Anne’s Economic Development. “Why commute when you can avoid the time, traffic and tension by finding a great job match here in your neighborhood?”

There are more than 80 businesses in the Chesapeake Bay Business Park, and through a recent sur vey, as many job openings in the next three to six months.

This event is also supported through staff from the American Job Center network of the five-county area through the Upper Shore Workforce Investment Board, Chesapeake College, and the local Chamber of Commerce. Ongoing American Job Center commitment to assist both employers and job seekers is available online via the Maryland Workforce Exchange at www.mwejobs. com.
