Toys for Tots sign up dates set for Nov. 27, 29
CENTREVILLE — All new families or those with a new addition must sign up to receive toys from the Marine Corps Foundation’s Toys for Tots program.
There are two sign-up dates. One is from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27, at the American Legion at 2619 Centreville Road in Centreville. The other is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Elks Lodge at 502 Dutchman’s Lane in Easton.
Families will need a photo-ID, birth certificates, or records from the hospital for each of their children. The Marine Corps Foundation will accept a letter on department letterhead from charitable organizations such as St. Martin’s Ministries or the Social Services Departments of Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, Caroline, and Dorchester counties. The letters must provide the names of the children and their dates of birth.
The foundation provides gifts for children up to and including age 17. Those needing toys for children, other than their own, must show court ordered custody or a letter from Social Ser vices.
The public is asked to not contact the American Legion or Elks as they have no part in the Toys for Tots Campaign other than providing a point of distribution.
Letters have gone out to over 625 families, providing their specific date and location for the distribution of toys. New sign-ups will be provided this information.
Families that moved since last year must contact Toys for Tots by email addressed to suzietft@ gmail.com and provide a current place of residency.
Due to the large volume of phone calls and phone-tag, the toys campaign doesn’t return phone calls.
