Police seek information in shooting
GRASONVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting Saturday, Nov. 19, at 2:30 a.m. that occurred in a church parking lot in the vicinity of the Grasonville Community Center.
The report came from the Queen Anne’s Emergency Center in Queenstown, which contacted the Sheriff’s Office reporting a patient had arrived at the emergency room with a gunshot wound to his arm.
The victim, a 22-yearold Church Hill man, told deputies he was sitting in a car in the parking lot of the church across from the Grasonville Community Center, where a private birthday party was ending, police said.
Apparently there was a large group of people arguing who were blocking the exit, said Lt. Dale Patrick, spokesman for the sheriff’s office. The victim yelled to the group for them to move out of the way; then several shots were fired, he said.
After they left the parking lot, the victim told the driver he’d been hit, and she drove him directly to the emergency center, Patrick said.
The victim was treated and released at the Queen Anne’s Emergency Center. His name is being withheld as the investigation is still active.
Detectives are seeking witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Chase Armington at 410-758-0770 or by email at email@example.com.
