Eastport man charged with DWI
GRASONVILLE — An Eastport man was charged with driving while intoxicated after his truck was pulled over on U.S. Route 50 west near Kent Narrows.
A deputy on patrol reported a speeding, red pickup approached him, passed the patrol car and swerved several times at 1 a.m. Oct. 21. The deputy stopped the truck and spoke with the driver, Christopher Thomas Giles, 25, of Eastport.
The deputy reported a strong odor of alcohol coming from the truck, beer on the passenger floorboard and said Giles had slurred speech and glassy eyes, police said.
Giles attempted and failed several field sobriety tests, police said.
Giles was arrested and charged with DWI. He was taken to Centreville for processing and later released to a sober driver.
