Betty Frederick Usilton
CHESTERTOWN — Betty Frederick Usilton of Chestertown died Friday, Nov. 18, 2016 at Autumn Lake Healthcare in Chestertown. She was 90.
Betty F. Usilton was born Nov. 27, 1925 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late David Calvin Frederick and Jesse “Lee” Frederick. Mrs. Usilton attended school in New Enterprise, Pa. She moved to Maryland in 1945 and a year later was married to her late husband, Edward Robert Usilton Sr.
Betty went to work in quality control for Campbell Soup in the late 1950s and, after more than 30 years, retired in 1987. Betty was a member of the Crumpton United Methodist Church and the Crumpton United Methodist Women. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved to cook. She was known in her family to have the best chicken and dumplings and white potato pie.
In addition to her parents and husband, she also was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by four sons, Edward Robert Usilton Jr. of Crumpton, Donald Howard Usilton Sr. of Kennedyville, David Kenneth Usilton Sr. of Cordova, Tenn.; and Ronald Lee Usilton of Camden Wyoming, Del.; one sister, Hazel Ebersole of Harrisburg, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and 15 greatgrandchildren.
A visitation was held from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Fellows Family Funeral Home, 370 Cypress St., Millington, where the service was held at 2 p.m. Interment followed the service in Crumpton Cemetery in Crumpton.
