Over­turned tanker closes road in Queen Anne

QUEEN ANNE — Mary­land State Po­lice re­sponded to a crash at Rt. 309 and Fox Meadow Road in Queen Anne about 8 a.m. Tues­day, Nov. 29, for an over­turned trac­tor trailer and tanker into the woods.

Ac­cord­ing to Sgt. T. Red­path, the 2011 In­ter­na­tional truck and tanker driven by Ge­orge Dur­den, 51, of Den­ton, crossed the center line and struck a 2011 Chevro­let Ca­maro driven by Norma Crites, 43, of Queen Anne.

The tanker then con­tin­ued on 309 be­fore land­ing on its side in the woods. Units from Queen Anne Hills­boro Fire Com­pany re­sponded with the Mary­land State Po­lice. The haz­mat team was also dis­patched for diesel fuel leak­ing from the truck, said Red­path.

The driver of the car was treated at the Queen Anne’s Emer­gency Center and re­leased. Dur­den was trans­ported to Memo­rial Hos­pi­tal at Eas­ton, said Red­path.

Route 309 was closed for about two hours. The crash re­mains un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
