Peace poster win­ners all SMS stu­dents

SUDLERSVILLE — The Ch­ester­town Lions Club in con­junc­tion with the Lions In­ter­na­tional Or­ga­ni­za­tion con­ducted a world­wide con­test in which stu­dents be­tween the ages of 11 and 13 par­tic­i­pate in an artis­tic com­pe­ti­tion to cre­ate a poster in sup­port of the cen­tral theme “Cel­e­brat­ing Peace.”

The win­ners of this year’s Ch­ester­town Lion’s Clubs con­test were sev­enth-grade art stu­dents from Sudlersville Mid­dle School, taught by Vicki Bock­miller, said Fred Sher­riff, Peace Poster chair­man for the Ch­ester­town Lions Club.

Isa­iah Frisby re­ceived first place and a cash prize of $100. In sec­ond place, re­ceiv­ing $75 was Lind­say Lu­cus, and third, re­ceiv­ing $50, Car­los Apari­cio.

Frisby, as first place win­ner will com­pete with the win­ners from the 48 lo­cal clubs from nine coun­ties of the Eastern Shore. The win­ner of that com­pe­ti­tion will ad­vance to the next, larger ge­o­graphic com­pe­ti­tion.

The judg­ing for the Lions Club’s In­ter­na­tional win­ner will be com­pleted in Fe­bru­ary, with the In­ter­na­tional win­ner re­ceiv­ing a $5000 cash award.
