Gra­sonville El­e­men­tary holds Tur­key Trot

GRA­SONVILLE — On Fri­day, Nov. 18, stu­dents at Gra­sonville El­e­men­tary par­tic­i­pated in the an­nual Tur­key Trot. Stu­dents in Kindergarten through sec­ond grade ran a half mile loop around the school grounds while stu­dents in third through fifth grade ran a mile loop.

Phys­i­cal ed­u­ca­tion teacher Heidi Wilkes or­ga­nizes sev­eral runs through­out the year that oc­cur both dur­ing and after school. Stu­dents par­tic­i­pate in the Boo Run, Tur­key Trot, Rein­deer Run and Spring into Spring Run. These themed runs are tra­di­tions the stu­dents look for­ward to through­out the year.

In ad­di­tion to these school-wide runs, Wilkes runs an after school Track and Field Club that en­cour­ages stu­dents to make ex­er­cise part of their daily lives and to al­ways run their per­sonal best.
