Democrat committee seeks applications to fill vacancy
STEVENSVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Democrat Central Committee is accepting applications to fill the seat vacated by Shar yn Harlow who was elected to the county’s Board of Education.
“As we enter into the 2017-2018 gubernatorial campaign season, we have much work to do and would like to fill Sharyn’s vacant seat as soon as possible,” said a news release from the committee.
The group’s by-laws state that the central committee will be composed of four men and four women. In the event of a vacancy, the committee reaches out to interested applicants, interview them and select a replacement.
The committee is dedicated to supporting Democratic causes, candidates, and elected officials and to increasing Democratic voter registration and visibility. Activities range from recruiting candidates at all levels and campaigning for them to raising awareness of Democratic Party principles and positions on issues affecting the community, state and nation. On a monthly basis, the group holds open meetings.
If selected, the person must also be available for the full state Central Committee meetings held quarterly.
Currently, the committee is accepting applications to fill Harlow’s seat. To qualify, you must be a female resident of Queen Anne’s County and a registered Democrat.
Applicants must be available for a brief interview on Jan. 18, 2017 sometime between 6 and 8 p.m. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Democratic Central Committee, submit a letter of interest that includes your name, address, email and phone number, along with a brief resume.
