Grasonville Elementary hosts Breakfast with Santa
GRASONVILLE — Grasonville Elementary School is a schoolwide Title I program for the 2016-2017 school year. It provides a variety of events throughout the year to its families. One of Title I’s goals is to bridge the gap between home and school.
Grasonville Elementary School’s Title I Program hosted “Breakfast with Santa” on Dec. 7. During the breakfast, families relaxed while they ate with their students. The breakfast was provided by Sodexo and the Grasonville Elementary School kitchen staff.
During each event parents are offered different workshops that share strategies, tips and academic data. Parents are also shown how they can work with their students at home and increase their academic success. Grasonville Elementary School believes that providing seamless services to their students will further the student’s ability to excel and provide them with the ability to reach their full potential.
The “Breakfast with Santa” event was a wonderful opportunity for the parents to see what types of breakfast foods are offered to their students on a daily basis. The instructional staff provided a variety of math games for the students and their parents to engage in during their breakfast. The games focused on the specific math skills each grade level has been working on this year.
This was another opportunity for parents to work with their students while having fun. The students also had an opportunity to visit an “Estimation Station,” where they estimated the number of items in a variety of festive containers. Everyone also had the opportunity to visit with Santa and snap a few pictures. At 9 a.m. the students headed off to heir classes and the parents were provided with math focused workshops aught by the Grasonville Elementar y School teachers.
