SUDLERSVILLE — Esther V. DeVore of Sudlersville died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at Whispering Pines in Rock Hall. She was 89.
Esther V. DeVore was born on Oct. 13, 1927, in Chester, Pa., to the late Arncey Wooten and Elizabeth Keyser Wooten. She attended Chester High School; graduating Class of 1945. On Feb. 7, 1948, she married Frank Edward “Ed” DeVore and resided in Trainer, Pa. They moved to Boothwin, Pa., and later to Middletown, Del. In 1970, she and her husband made their home in Sudlersville. In 1988, her husband of 40 years predeceased her.
Mrs. DeVore was a volunteer for over 16 years at the Kent & Queen Anne’s Hospital, stopping in 2005. She had a passion for all her pets and enjoyed working outside and spending time in her flower garden and feeding her turtles.
Mrs. DeVore and her late husband, Ed, have four children, Dona Austin (Eugene); Edward DeVore (Joanne), Gary DeVore; and Debra Townsend (Greg); five grandchildren, Cindy Clawson (Kenny), Kerry Bittner (Todd), James DeVore, Jeanie DeVore and Anthony DeVore; and five great-grandchildren, Marissa Bittner, Alexander Clawson, Zachary Bittner, Avery Clawson and Ian DeVore. She has one brother, Frank Wooten. In addition to her husband, one brother, Edward Wooten, predeceased her.
Services were Saturday, Dec. 10, at Fellows Family Funeral Home, Millington. Interment followed in Sudlersville Cemetery in Sudlersville.
