STEVENSVILLE — Robert “Bob” Ce­cil Med­lar, 88, of Stevensville, MD, passed away on De­cem­ber 23, 2016. Mr. Med­lar was born on Oct. 24, 1928 in Bing­ham­ton, NY, to the late Ron­ald and Er­mitta Vance Med­lar and worked as a welder at the Naval Ser­vice War­fare Cen­ter in White Oak, MD.

He is pre­ceded in death by his first wife, Claire Louise Gates-Al­sip. He is sur­vived by his wife, Eve­lyn Flana­gan; sons: Robert Med­lar and his wife Donna, of Port Charlotte, FL; Laren Med­lar and his wife Martha, of Lib­erty, NC; daugh­ters: Judy Jung and her hus­band Lloyd, of El­cer­rito, CA; Tina Coxen-Wal­shaw and her hus­band Randy Fouché, of Der­wood, MD; step­daugh­ter, Kather­ine Snook and her hus­band Larry of Bowie, MD; brother, Earl Med­lar of NY; sis­ter, Caro­line Mol­man of Las Ve­gas, NV; grand­chil­dren: An­drew, Car­rie, Car­lene, Ja­son, Jonathan, Jen­nifer, Nathan and Aaron, as well as four great grand­chil­dren: Jor­dan, Macken­zie, Trin­ity and Br yce.

Funeral ser­vices will be held on Wed­nes­day, De­cem­ber 28th in the chapel of the Der­wood Bi­ble Church in Der­wood, MD, 11:30 a.m. with in­ter­ment to fol­low at the Park­lawn Memo­rial Park in Rockville, MD.

Kent Is­land Elks Esquire (and Past Ex­aulted Ruler) Ron Kunz lights a can­dle for each of the lo­cal lodge mem­bers who died this past year dur­ing the an­nual “To Our Ab­sent Mem­bers Memo­rial Ser­vice” held the first Sun­day in De­cem­ber, this year Dec. 4. The mem­bers who were re­mem­bered in the cer­e­mony in­cluded John R. Bossert III, Dorothy Stoy, Melvin R. My­ers and Terry Eller. The slo­gan for the cer­e­mony is “Elks Are Never For­got­ten.”
