KI Garden Club makes centerpieces for convoy
CENTREVILLE — Numerous persons have reported that a Middle Eastern male, claiming to be from Dubai (Persian Gulf) and a female with child have gone into fraternal clubs selling authentic looking gold jewelry. It has been reported to the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office that the jewelry is fake, although it is stamped with credentials.
Sheriff Gary Hofmann asks anyone who comes into contact with this pair, please photograph a tag, get a description and report to the sheriff’s office immediately. This is an open investigation with few details. “They are claiming to be down on their luck and need money for the family .... Remember, if it’s too good to be true, it probably is a scam,” Hofmann said.
STEVENSVILLE — Members of the Kent Island Garden Club made table centerpieces of fresh greenery and patriotic ribbon at the American Legion on Route 8 to welcome the Wreaths Across America convoy. The convoy stopped at the American Legion for dinner and breakfast on its way to Arlington National Cemetery.
Garden club members also decorated the Cray House, train station, caboose and old Post Office in Stevensville and placed wreaths at old Christ Church and the library.
Watch for the club’s Kent Island Day plant sale in May. Funds are used for the club’s many products.
