Evelyn Williams Grehawick
QUEENSTOWN — Evelyn Williams Grehawick, 91, of Queenstown, MD, passed away peacefully of dementia on January 7, 2017 in Whitewood Assisted Living, Grasonville, MD, with her dog, Rosie by her side.
Mrs. Grehawick was born on January 15, 1925, in Chester, PA, daughter of the late George L. and Marie Hunter Glanding. She married the late, Alfred B. Williams and moved to Mount Union, PA, where they had two sons. Her marriage ended and Evelyn moved back to Chester. In 1966 she married Harry Grehawick, returning to Maryland in 1989 after the passing of her husband in 1988. She worked for the Acme in the meat department, retiring after 30 years. Evelyn loved to cook, enjoyed taking care of her rose and vegetable gardens and bus trips to Atlantic City.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Grehawick, two sisters, Dorothy Gunther and Georgie Glanding; aunts, Thelma Laird and Janet Weaver; uncles, John Hunter and Joseph Hunter; grandson, Rick Williams; step-son, Gregory Grehawick and a nephew, David Weaver.
Mrs. Grehawick is survived by her sons, Bernie Williams and wife, Brenda, of Queenstown, MD, and Donald L. Williams of Harrington, DE; grandchildren, Lacey, Amanda, Amber and Owen; granddaughterin-law, Michelle Williams; niece, June Laird Miller; six nephews, Jackie Laird, Robert, Kenny, Alan, Paul and Gary Gunther; stepson, David Grehawick and wife, Boobpar, of Makakilo City, Hawaii; step-daughter, Rosellen Grehawick Hughes of Philadelphia; five step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, Jan.11, at 1 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD, where friends called an hour prior to service. Burial was in Chesterfield Cemetery, Centreville, MD.
