Good­will hon­ors mem­bers at awards din­ner

CENTREVILLE — The an­nual din­ner and in­stal­la­tion of of­fi­cers for 2017 was held by the Good­will Fire Com­pany in the fire­house in Centreville on Satur­day, Jan. 7, with a large crowd in at­ten­dance.

Fol­low­ing din­ner a num­ber of awards were pre­sented, and a video shown, prior to the in­stal­la­tion of of­fi­cers by Tim McCluskey, vice pres­i­dent of the Centreville Town Coun­cil.

Alex Bradley Jr. was named Fire­fighter of the Year; and the Chief’s Award went to two fire­men: Jeremy Davis and Chris Tucker.

McCluskey saluted the ser­vice of the vol­un­teers and handed a check of $45,000 to Trea­surer Don­ald Dawkins from the town.

Among other awards pre­sented in­cluded those to the 10 top re­spon­ders to emer­gency calls dur­ing 2016. The top re­spon­der was Alex Bradley, who an­swered a to­tal of 287 alarms dur­ing the year.

Other top re­spon­ders were: J.D. Chatham, 107; Dave Baker, 140; Jim Brown, 141; Ken Blood­sworth, 142; Hunter Dash­naw, 152; Chris Tucker, 166; Jeremy Davis, 170; Jeff Kiel, 206; and Tyler Knapp, 259.

Com­pany of­fi­cers in­stalled for 2017 were:

Ray­mond Aaron, pres­i­dent; Lester Downes III, vice pres­i­dent; Cliff Green, sec­re­tary; Gene Thomas, as­sis­tant sec­re­tary; Don­ald Dawkins, trea­surer; John Cvach, as­sis­tant trea­surer; Ken Blood­sworth, chief; Jeremy Davis, am­bu­lance cap­tain; and Wayne Blood­sworth, Ed­die Burton, Jeff Kiel, Chris Tucker, Jim Brown, all di­rec­tors.

Mem­bers of the Sudlersville Fire Com­pany stood by in the en­gine room in case of any fire calls dur­ing the evening pro­gram.

A dance cli­maxed the evening af­fair.
