Man charged with assault, reckless endangerment
SUDLERSVILLE — A car driven by Brian Cordell Stansbury, 29, of Sudlersville was pulled over for allegedly speeding on Pondtown Road near Burchard Sawmill Road at 2:13 p.m. Dec. 7, but when a second deputy arrived with a K-9, he drove off, nearly striking Cpl. Stephen Fraser, according to the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office. The gray Cadillac SUV ran several stop signs and passed several vehicles going more than 100 mph, police said.
Pursuit of the vehicle was terminated as area schools and buses were thought to be letting out, police said.
With police in possession of Stansbury’s Delaware license and Fraser completing an application for charges, police said, Stansbury surrendered himself to Maryland State Police.
Stansbury was charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and 16 other traffic violations, police said.
