CEN­TRE­VILLE — Susie Creighton Em­bert of Cen­tre­ville, Md., passed away on Feb. 12, 2017 at Com­pass Re­gional Hospice. She was 85. Born on March 10, 1931 in Fish­ing Creek, Md., the daugh­ter of the late Lehman P. and Rhida Parks Creighton, she grew up in the Cen­tre­ville area where her fa­ther was the first Chief of Po­lice. Susie grad­u­ated from Cen­tre­ville High School, Class of 1947. At that time, she be­gan work­ing in the tax as­sess­ment of­fice, lo­cated in the Queen Anne’s County court­house, un­til re­tir­ing af­ter 40 years of ser­vice. She mar­ried Harry Dodd Em­bert and to­gether they raised two chil­dren in Cen­tre­ville.

Susie was a mem­ber of Cen­tre­ville United Methodist Church, the Cen­tre­ville Alumni As­so­ci­a­tion and past mem­ber of the Queen Anne’s County His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety. She en­joyed trav­el­ing all over North Amer­ica and spend­ing time with her fam­ily.

Susie is sur­vived by her daugh­ter, Su­sanne E. Ma­son and her hus­band Bill of Queen Anne; son, Wil­liam Nor­ris Em­bert and com­pan­ion Cindy Q. Cron­shaw; three grand­chil­dren: Katherine M. Kraszewski and hus­band Stephen; Stacey E. Low­ery and hus­band Troy; Kris­ten E. Don­nelly and hus­band Kirk; four great grand­chil­dren: Jaden M. Low­ery; Tan­ner M. Low­ery; Wil­liam I. Kraszewski; Rosa E. Kraszewski; and sis­ter, Ruth C. McLaren of South­port, NC. In ad­di­tion to her par­ents, Susie was pre­de­ceased by two broth­ers, Preston C. Creighton and Lehman Leon Creighton.

A view­ing was held at Fel­lows, Helfen­bein & New­nam Fu­neral Home, Cen­tre­ville, Thurs­day, Feb. 23, from 6 un­til 8 p.m. The fu­neral ser­vice took place at the Cen­tre­ville United Methodist Church in Cen­tre­ville, Md., on Fri­day, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. Burial was in Ch­ester­field Ceme­ter y.
