County plans Eco­nomic Out­look Sym­po­sium

GRA­SONVILLE — What im­pend­ing chal­lenges and op­por­tu­ni­ties lie ahead for our econ­omy? Dr. Memo Diriker, found­ing di­rec­tor of BEA­CON at Sal­is­bury Univer­sity, will de­liver his ex­pert anal­y­sis of the fi­nan­cial cli­mate at the Queen Anne’s County Eco­nomic Out­look Sym­po­sium 2017 on Tues­day, March 21.

The con­fer­ence is pre­sented by the Queen Anne’s County Depart­ment of Eco­nomic De­vel­op­ment and the county’s Eco­nomic De­vel­op­ment Com­mis­sion.

“At­ten­dees will learn about cur­rent busi­ness con­di­tions, eco­nomic per­for­mance and emerg­ing trends that will im­pact not only our area, but also the state and na­tion in 2017 and beyond,” said Jean Fabi, act­ing di­rec­tor of Eco­nomic De­vel­op­ment.

Diriker’s ex­pe­ri­ence with the Busi­ness, Eco­nomic and Com­mu­nity Outreach Net­work of­fers a lo­cal, na­tional and in­ter­na­tional per­spec­tive, while Jim DiDonato, a Queen Anne’s County busi­ness leader, will ad­dress the lo­cal busi­ness cli­mate. Dis­cus­sions con­tinue with the state’s as­sess­ment, de­liv­ered by Steve Pen­ning­ton from the Mary­land Depart­ment of Com­merce, who will also give an over­view of the En­ter­prise Zone pro­gram.

The March 21 sym­po­sium will be held at the Ch­e­sa­peake Bay En­vi­ron­men­tal Cen­ter, 600 Dis­cov­ery Lane in Gra­sonville, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Seat­ing is lim­ited, and the $35 tick­ets, which in­clude break­fast, will be sold on a first come ba­sis.
