Q. Where was the Pal­adora Inn in Cen­tre­ville and how long ago?

A. It was an AfricanAmer­i­can bar in a build­ing be­lieved to be still stand­ing off Lit­tle Kid­well be­hind the small town park by South Com­merce Street. It was busy in the late ‘40s and ‘50s and ap­par­ently had a num­ber of big bands play there.

DRIVE Reg­is­tra­tion is re­quired for the In­tro To Google Drive to be held at the Cen­tre­ville Branch on Thurs­day, March 16, at 10 a.m. Take a look at the free, cloud-based Google Drive pro­grams such as Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms and more. We will also ex­plore us­ing the drive for cloud stor­age and col­lab­o­rat­ing on projects with oth­ers.

• • • MARCH MAC HOURS We will have two Mac hours in March and no reg­is­tra­tion is re­quired. They will be held on March 14 and March 28, start­ing at 9:15 a.m. each day. ••• FUN FOR KIDS Miss Jenny has all kinds of fun lined up for the chil­dren in March and April, be­gin­ning with Mother Goose on the Loose ev­ery Tues­day at 10:30 a.m. through April 25 and Story Time ev­ery Wed­nes­day at 10:30 a.m. through April 26. Mother Goose chil­dren must be 3 to 36 months with care­giver, while Story Time kids can be ages 2 to 5 with a care­giver.

We will have Tinker Time, Thurs­day, March 16 and Thurs­day, April 6 and Thurs­day, April 20 from 5 to 7 p.m., for grades K through 8 young­sters. Stop by any­time in the Chil­dren’s Room to tinker with the items in our tinker box. Each week we will have dif­fer­ent STEAM chal­lenges to tinker with.

Chil­dren ages birth to 2 years, with adult, come in Fri­day, March 17, and Fri­day, April 7, and Fri­day, April 21, at 10 a.m. for an hour of un­struc­tured play and so­cial time with chil­dren and their care­givers. En­joy books and de­vel­op­men­tally ap­pro­pri­ate toys. This is a won­der­ful chance for your lit­tle ones to be in­tro­duced to the Li­brary, make new friends and play.
