Q. Where was the Paladora Inn in Centreville and how long ago?
A. It was an AfricanAmerican bar in a building believed to be still standing off Little Kidwell behind the small town park by South Commerce Street. It was busy in the late ‘40s and ‘50s and apparently had a number of big bands play there.

DRIVE Registration is required for the Intro To Google Drive to be held at the Centreville Branch on Thursday, March 16, at 10 a.m. Take a look at the free, cloud-based Google Drive programs such as Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms and more. We will also explore using the drive for cloud storage and collaborating on projects with others.
• • • MARCH MAC HOURS We will have two Mac hours in March and no registration is required. They will be held on March 14 and March 28, starting at 9:15 a.m. each day. ••• FUN FOR KIDS Miss Jenny has all kinds of fun lined up for the children in March and April, beginning with Mother Goose on the Loose every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. through April 25 and Story Time every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. through April 26. Mother Goose children must be 3 to 36 months with caregiver, while Story Time kids can be ages 2 to 5 with a caregiver.
We will have Tinker Time, Thursday, March 16 and Thursday, April 6 and Thursday, April 20 from 5 to 7 p.m., for grades K through 8 youngsters. Stop by anytime in the Children’s Room to tinker with the items in our tinker box. Each week we will have different STEAM challenges to tinker with.
Children ages birth to 2 years, with adult, come in Friday, March 17, and Friday, April 7, and Friday, April 21, at 10 a.m. for an hour of unstructured play and social time with children and their caregivers. Enjoy books and developmentally appropriate toys. This is a wonderful chance for your little ones to be introduced to the Library, make new friends and play.
