Record Observer - - News -

MARYDEL — On Feb. 28 at 7:23 p.m. firefighters from Marydel Volunteer Fire Company responded to 421 Bear Pond Road in Marydel. A neighbor of property owner William Knotts reported the fire. According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, ordinary combustibles were intentionally set on fire in vegetation on Knotts’ property.

It took 17 minutes for the 20 firefighters from Mar ydel VFC to suppress the fire. The area of origin was deter- mined to be outside grass/ vegetation where the personal property was placed. The report states the owner of the personal property (not the land owner) intentionally ignited the fire. There was no value to the items ignited, and it caused no damage to any structure or property belonging to the owner of the land. At the time of suppression the fire department could not identify what had been burned, thus requesting a response from the OSFM.
