Vol­un­teers wanted for county boards

STEVENSVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Com­mis­sion­ers are look­ing for cit­i­zens to fill mul­ti­ple boards and com­mis­sions. The dead­line for ap­pli­ca­tions is April 28.

The Board of Li­cense Com­mis­sion­ers, also known as the Liquor Board, is re­spon­si­ble for re­view­ing al­co­holic bev­er­age li­cense ap­pli­ca­tions, is­su­ing li­censes, li­cense re­newals, en­force­ment of laws, and print­ing, pub­lish­ing and up­dat­ing al­co­holic bev­er­age reg­u­la­tions.

The Bay Bridge Air­port Com­mis­sion’s pur­pose is to in­ves­ti­gate, re­view, re­port and make rec­om­men­da­tions on the use and fu­ture use of the Bay Bridge Air­port and its fa­cil­i­ties, to re­view pe­ri­od­i­cally the op­er­at­ing pro­ce­dures of the air­port in or­der to as­sure com­pat­i­bil­ity of such pro­ce­dures with the wel­fare of the com­mu­nity and to up­hold the Bay Bridge Air­port Min­i­mum Stan­dards.

Agri­cul­tural Preser­va­tion Board’s pur­pose is to ad­vise county gov­ern­ment with re­spect to es­tab­lish­ment of agri­cul­tural dis­tricts, as­sist in re­view­ing the sta­tus of agri­cul­tural dis­tricts and land un­der ease­ment, ad­vise the Mary­land Agri­cul­tural Land Preser­va­tion Fund con­cern­ing county pri­or­i­ties for agri­cul­tural preser­va­tion and pro­mote preser­va­tion of agri­cul­ture within the county by of­fer­ing in­for­ma­tion and as­sis­tance to farm­ers con­cern­ing the es­tab­lish­ment of dis­tricts and pur­chase of ease­ments.

So­cial Ser­vices Board serves in an ad­vi­sory ca­pac­ity to the di­rec­tor, and mem­bers act as li­aisons to bring con­cerns from their com­mu­ni­ties and to take back in­for­ma­tion. So­cial Ser­vices Board mem­bers par­tic­i­pate in the process to se­lect the di­rec­tor of So­cial Ser­vices for ap­point­ment and com­plete the di­rec­tor’s an­nual per­for­mance eval­u­a­tion with the Depart­ment of Hu­man Re­sources.

The Prop­erty Tax As­sess­ment Board’s mem­bers are rec­om­mended by the County Com­mis­sion­ers and ap­pointed by the Gov­er­nor.

The Hous­ing Au­thor­ity’s pur­pose is to pro­vide de­cent, safe and af­ford­able hous­ing for the res­i­dents of Queen Anne’s County. They may ac­quire, own, lease and op­er­ate hous­ing projects and pro­vide for the con­struc­tion, re­con­struc­tion, im­prove­ment, al­ter­ation or re­pair of any hous­ing project; make rent sub­sidy pay­ments to or on be­half of per­sons of eligible in­come, in­ves­ti­gate into liv­ing, dwelling and hous­ing con­di­tions, and into the means and meth­ods of im­prov­ing such con­di­tions, and other re­lated tasks.

The Friends of His­toric Christ Church in Stevensville are look­ing for like-minded in­di­vid­u­als to join their group. Nancy Cook, di­rec­tor of the group, said, “We wel­come peo­ple to join us as we work to pre­serve the past and to plan for the fu­ture. We meet once a month Fe­bru­ary through Novem­ber.”
