Lula Blanche Thompson Satterfield
SUDLERSVILLE — Lula Blanche Thompson Satterfield of Sudlersville, MD, on March 10, 2017, at the age of 96, flew to Heaven on butterfly wings.
Mrs. Satterfield was born Feb. 15, 1921, near Barclay, MD, the daughter of the late William T. Thompson and Mae Gray Thompson. She was a lifelong resident of Queen Anne’s County where she drove a school bus for 22 years. She was a faithful member of Calvary Asbury United Methodist Church and enjoyed attending Homecomings at Busick Church. She was a past member of the Sudlersville Homemakers, Betterment Club and Top of the Hill Club. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, family history and going to Thompson family reunions.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aldrich “Dickie” Satterfield; two sons: Charles A. Satterfield and Ronald “Reggie” Satterfield; two sisters: Beatrice Ann Hurd and Eleanor Wise McDonald; and her brother, Samuel C. Thompson.
“Miss Lula” is survived by one son, William “Billy” Satterfield of Sudlersville; a daugther-in-law, Nancy Satterfield Wheeler (Woody) of Decatur, AL; five grandchildren: David Satterfield of Sudlersville, Suzanne Harris (Jeff) of Smyrna, DE, George Satterfield (Debbie) of Magnolia, DE, Valerie Edge (Ronnie) of Magnolia, James Satterfield (Beth) of Dover, DE; 24 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and many friends.
A graveside ser vice will be held Friday, March 17, 2:30 p.m. at Sudlersville Cemetery in Sudlersville, MD.
